ChatGPT Pro unavailable?
Pro 200 is open to new signups again
As of 2026-10-07, ChatGPT Pro comes in three tiers, $100 / $200 / $500, and the $200 tier (Pro 200) accepts new subscriptions again, so the 2026-09-10 signup pause no longer applies. Eligible existing Pro 200 users keep the previous allowance through 2026-10-29, then move to a lower allowance at the same price. Existing subs, Plus / Go, and the API are still three different paths; QCode sells API access, not anyone's subscription.

Four facts to pin down first
Current Pro tiers per month
As of 2026-10-07 the learn.chatgpt.com pricing page reads “Plans at $100, $200, or $500 USD per month”; the Help Center calls them Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500.
Open for new signups again
Help Center wording: “Pro 200 is also available for new subscriptions again.” The price is still $200, but new subscriptions that do not qualify for grandfathering include a lower allowance than before.
Last day of the old allowance
If you had an active Pro 200 subscription at any point from 2026-09-22 through 10 a.m. Pacific on 2026-09-29, you keep the previous allowance through 2026-10-29; after that you move to the lower allowance, still at $200.
A separate road that stayed open
TechCrunch, quoting the company: the API and the cheaper Go / Plus plans remain available. Using the API is not buying ChatGPT Pro.
How to handle this class of problem
As of 2026-10-07 the $200 tier of ChatGPT Pro (Pro 200, which this page earlier called Pro 20X after the 2026-09-10 Help Center note) accepts new subscriptions again. If you still cannot buy it, check payment, account and purchase platform first instead of waiting for a pause to lift. Order of operations: read the Help Center article About ChatGPT Pro tiers and the pricing page in your account, decide between $100, $200 and $500, and if you are an existing Pro 200 user note that the old allowance ends on 2026-10-29. Only if you need model calls rather than the ChatGPT website, point your client at an API. QCode can help with the API-key path. It cannot provision ChatGPT Pro.
What OpenAI says as of 2026-10-07
The Help Center article About ChatGPT Pro tiers (archived 2026-10-03) opens with: “ChatGPT Pro now offers Pro 500, a new $500/month plan that includes Astra Ultrafast. Pro 200 is also available for new subscriptions again.” Among the three tiers, Ultrafast is only on Pro 500, and keeping the old Pro 200 allowance does not upgrade you to Pro 500. Users affected by the allowance change get an email with details.
Timeline
2026-09-03 GPT-6 Astra ships. The following days are a messy rollout: paying users land in batches, and ChatGPT versus the API are not aligned to the same hour. Capacity strain is discussed in public from here.
2026-09-10 the Help Center publishes the Pro $200 new-signup pause. The same day TechCrunch reports the company is doing this to protect Astra for current users; other plans and the API stay open.
2026-09-29 at 10 a.m. Pacific the grandfathering window for the old Pro 200 allowance closes (it opened 2026-09-22). The Help Center as archived on 2026-10-03 says Pro 200 is open for new subscriptions again, adds the $500 Pro 500, and lets eligible existing users keep the old allowance through 2026-10-29.
Confirmed versus easy to get wrong
In the official docs (as of 2026-10-07)
Verifiable word for word: Pro has three tiers at $100 / $200 / $500 (pricing page: “Plans at $100, $200, or $500 USD per month”); Pro 200 is open for new subscriptions again; Ultrafast is only on Pro 500; users with an active Pro 200 subscription between 2026-09-22 and 10 a.m. Pacific on 2026-09-29 keep the previous allowance through 2026-10-29, then move to the lower allowance at $200/month. The 2026-09-10 pause on new $200 signups was the Help Center position at that time.
What the community is saying, unsigned
Not stated by OpenAI: how much lower the new allowance is (as of 2026-10-07 no figure could be found in the 2026-10-03 Help Center archive or on the learn.chatgpt.com pricing page; the Help Center only says “lower included usage allowance”), and whether anything changes again after 2026-10-29. Calling the Pro 200 change a price cut or a cancellation is also wrong: the price stays at $200/month and the subscription remains Pro 200.
Two roads, easy to mix up
Subscribe to an official Pro tier
Fits people who want the ChatGPT website and Codex subscription usage: pick $100, $200 or $500 on the pricing page; Astra Ultrafast requires Pro 500. It is a poor fit for CI and batch scripts that run on call volume.
Switch the client to API-key mode
Fits people running GPT-6 Astra / GPT-5.6 in automation, CI or batch jobs; the pricing page describes API-key mode as “Great for automation in shared environments like CI.” Codex CLI and Claude Code both accept a custom endpoint. That is not purchasing ChatGPT Pro.
Three steps after you are stuck
Step 1: open the Help Center article About ChatGPT Pro tiers and the pricing page in your account, and check whether Pro 200 is open to you (as of 2026-10-07 OpenAI says it is open again); if the charge still fails, treat it as an ordinary payment failure. Step 2: existing Pro 200 users should note 2026-10-29, when the lower allowance starts; there is no need to cancel over it. Step 3: if what you actually need is model calls rather than the ChatGPT website, point Codex CLI at an OpenAI-compatible API, or set Claude Code's ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL and ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN to your endpoint. The Claude Code walkthrough is anthropic-base-url-setup-guide.
What to do on QCode, specifically
QCode does not sell ChatGPT Pro and does not resell any vendor subscription. You want an API key: after signup, copy it from the dashboard. For Claude Code set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL = https://api.qcode.cc/api and ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN to that key. For Codex CLI set base_url in config.toml to https://api.qcode.cc/openai (Responses protocol) and reuse the key. Switch the model field to gpt-6-astra or gpt-5.6-sol. Official GPT-5.6 Sol list price is $4 / $20 (promo through at least 2026-11-21). Next step: send one tiny request and check the echoed model id.
FAQ
Can I buy ChatGPT Pro 20X (the $200 tier) now?
Yes, as of 2026-10-07: the Help Center says “Pro 200 is also available for new subscriptions again.” The price is still $200, but new subscriptions without grandfathering get a lower allowance than before. If it still fails, rule out a declined card, a duplicate subscription, and the purchase platform (ChatGPT web, Apple or Google Play).
I already have Pro $200. Will I be cancelled?
No. The Help Center says the subscription remains Pro 200 at $200/month. If you had an active Pro 200 subscription between 2026-09-22 and 10 a.m. Pacific on 2026-09-29, you keep the previous allowance through 2026-10-29, then move to the lower allowance. Affected users receive an email.
What is the difference between Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500?
Per the Help Center: Pro 200 includes more usage than Pro 100, and Pro 500 has the highest included usage of the three; Ultrafast is only on Pro 500. Keeping the old Pro 200 allowance does not add Ultrafast. Check the pricing page for each tier's exact allowance.
If I cancel, can I buy it back?
Yes, Pro 200 is open for new subscriptions again. If you resubscribe on the same account and had an active Pro 200 subscription between 2026-09-22 and 10 a.m. Pacific on 2026-09-29, you still keep the previous allowance through 2026-10-29; outside that window you get the updated, lower allowance.
Can I buy ChatGPT Pro on QCode?
No. QCode is a multi-model API reseller. It does not resell OpenAI or any other vendor's subscription. Any copy that implies otherwise is false.
How do I put Codex CLI on an API key?
Stop using ChatGPT subscription login. Point the OpenAI-compatible base URL at https://api.qcode.cc/openai/v1 (Codex CLI: base_url https://api.qcode.cc/openai), use the QCode dashboard key, and set model to gpt-6-astra or gpt-5.6-sol. Claude Code uses ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL plus ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN; see anthropic-base-url-setup-guide.
